Presenter: Ronald Brown - The Heron and Egret Project in Marin and Sonoma Counties. Ronald Brown is an immigrant from Scotland (1972) and a 2010 retiree who likes nature and the outdoors. He developed an interest in birds during the pandemic and has volunteered for various nature related programs since retirement: One Tam Wildlife cameras, Marin County Breeding Bird Atlas and most especially the Heron and Egret Project (HEP). Ron will share a history of HEP and its current status. In 2020 (1st year of the pandemic) he somewhat accidentally became involved with the monitoring of Dover Park in Fairfield, a Snowy Egret/Black crowned Night Heron/Cattle Egret colony. He has also helped at the Santa Rosa West 9th St. colony for the last few years. He’ll share observations and concerns for the status and monitoring of Snowy Egrets, Black-crowned Night Heron, and Cattle Egrets in the North Bay. There will be time to share observations and/or for Q/A related to these members of the Ardeid family after the talk.
